About the Filmmaker
Daniel Julien was born in France, where he first began producing independent films. He moved to the United States in 1980 where he continued his activities, working in television and on various documentaries in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Daniel met Miya when she applied to become a coordinator for SWIFT (Student of the World Invitation to Friendship and Travel), his non-profit organization that gives students an opportunity to travel abroad and experience foreign cultures. Miya excelled at her demanding job and immediately impressed Daniel with her dedication. He decided to tell the story of her amazing life on film.
